H&S Consultants Register launched

02/02/2011

After over a year of discussions, a number of different professional organisations (including IOSH and the HSE) have jointly launched a UK wide register of H&S Consultants. The scheme is being administered by the HSE.

Three Spires Safety will ensure that its Consultants who meet the eligiability requirements will be registered by 31 March 2011.

Commenting on the launch of the register, Rob Castledine, Director of Three Spires Safety, says;

"Consultants on the register will be committed to giving you sensible and proportionate advice. This means that they will:

- Help clients to understand what health and safety law requires;

- Help clients to understand how they can help them;

- Ensure that clients understand how to raise any concerns relating to the advice that they have received;

- Exercise their professional judgement to decide what action must be taken in a particular situation. For example, an employer might be required to do what is reasonably practicable to ensure safety, and that will mean considering both the extent of the risk and the resources involved in averting the risk (whether in money, time or trouble); and

- Make clear and distinguish legal requirements and what is best practice (i.e. the ‘must do’ and the ‘could do’).

Clients can be assured that all times our Consultants will be working to the highest possible standards."

Further information on the Consutlants register can be found at www.hse.gov.uk/oshcr/general-qa.htm.
